If you've ever wanted to create a piece of décor that is both beautiful and functional, this Copper Wire Dangling Plant & Candle Holder project is a fun one to add to your crafting list.

One of my favorite things about this design is its versatility. You can use it as a hanging holder for a small glass vase and plant clipping, or swap it out for a candle holder to create a warm, cozy glow in your home. The same wire frame works for both!

Before you begin, gather your materials so everything is within reach while you're crafting.

Materials Needed

Here are the Amazon links for the materials I used to make this copper wire: https://www.twirlcraftstudio.com/plant-and-candle-holder

  • 12 Gauge Copper Wire

  • Additional 12 Gauge Copper Wire for decorative spirals and hanging elements

  • Plant Clipping (such as Pothos) – Optional

  • Tea Light Candle – Optional

Containers

  • Small Glass Jar, Vase, or Glass Candle Holder

Tools

  • Wire Cutters

  • Round Nose Pliers

  • Flat Nose Pliers

  • Hammer

  • Steel Bench Block or Hard Surface

About the Copper Wire

For most of my projects, I use solid copper electrical wire. It is usually soft enough to bend and shape by hand, making it perfect for creating spirals and decorative details. Once the design is complete, I hammer portions of the wire to work-harden the copper, helping the finished piece become stronger and hold its shape better.

Tips Before You Start

✨ Gather all of your materials before beginning.

✨ If you're using a plant clipping, choose one with trailing vines for extra visual impact.

✨ Don't worry about making every spiral identical. Slight variations give handmade pieces their character.

✨ Hammering the finished spirals not only strengthens the copper but also adds beautiful texture and shine.

Customize Your Design

One of the best parts of this project is making it your own. Try experimenting with:

  • Different bead colors

  • Crystals instead of beads

  • Larger or smaller glass containers

  • Air plants or fresh plant cuttings

  • Seasonal decorations

  • Battery-operated tea lights for a flameless option

Whether you choose to display a plant, a candle, or both throughout the year, this project creates a beautiful handmade statement piece that looks stunning in windows, entryways, patios, and cozy corners of your home.

Happy crafting, and keep on twirling! 🌀
