The “Wire Cutters” Mystery… Solved 😂

For the longest time, many people have asked me what tool I use to cut my thicker copper wire projects.

Well… after years of crafting with them, I finally realized something hilarious:

They’re not just heavy-duty wire cutters. They're actually mini bolt cutters. 😂

Honestly, that explains a lot.

These old cutters have been with me through countless copper wire projects, which is probably why they’re rusty, worn out, and impossible to find online anymore. I searched everywhere trying to locate the exact same pair, but I think they officially belong in the “vintage craft tool” category now.

The good news is that I did find some very similar ones on Amazon that work well for thicker copper wire and tougher cuts. https://amzn.to/49DilfS

If you’ve ever wondered how I cut heavier gauges like 10 or 12 gauge copper wire without destroying regular jewelry cutters… this is the answer.

These types of cutters are definitely heavier than standard crafting tools, but they make a huge difference when working with thicker copper.

Why I Like Using Them

  • Strong enough for thick copper wire

  • Much easier on the hands than tiny cutters

  • Great for larger wire projects and bases

  • Surprisingly useful for heavy-duty crafting

A Few Notes

These are definitely not delicate jewelry tools. They’re heavy, strong, and a little dramatic… apparently because they were designed for bolts. 😅

But for thicker copper wire crafting, they’ve worked incredibly well for me over the years.
